I recently came across this video, and seeing as how I really like Tom Waits and I really like custom type I figured I’d post it on the blog. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here.
I also just found out about this amazing online service called GrooveShark - such a cheesy name but an awesome service. Basically you can find (almost) any song you’re thinking of instantly and add them into a playlist on the fly that will be saved under your account name if you ever want to listen to it again. You can also search other peoples playlists, search artists and listen to all the songs that are available from them, so forth and so on.
I recently got some business cards printed up and I’m pretty happy with the results. The only problem (which of course I didn’t notice until I’d paid for the cards and taken them home) is that they didn’t crop on the bottom/top crop marks very accurately so there is too much space between the bottom line of text and the bottom of the card. They’re printed on a pretty generic card stock (100 lb.) using giclee printing (that’s a fancy word for cheap ol’ digital printing) so all things considered they turned out pretty well.
I recently spent a bit of time up in the Canadian Rockies - specifically Banff, Lake Louise & Fernie. I came across a good number of hand lettered signage and was able to take a couple of quick pics. I’ve made a little set on flickr, check it out.
I also just had my first day of work (If you can call it that - A pot luck and lots of free beer…) with a great forward thinking web design & development company here in Calgary, Clickspace. I’m really excited to be working with these guys & gals, they seem like a great bunch of people.
I was looking around for some inspiration on an upcoming project when I came across what I consider to be one of my favorite if not most favorite board graphic series. The series is done by Mr. Evan Hecox, the art director behind chocolate skateboards. You can check out his site here. When I get enough extra cashflow I hope to have the whole series hanging proudly on my wall.
I found the images of the boards in this great little PDF I came across a while back called “A Brief Summary of Skateboard Graphics.” If you’d like a copy you can download it by clicking here(18.3 MB).
