Another very inspirational video about creativity and how to approach the idea of design from TED.com

I watched adidas diagonal - the european team video in it’s entirety last week for the first time and I was really impressed with the production, art direction and design work in it, especially the custom type for the different cities.  They really did a great job of matching title’s type styles to the locations.

I’ve included a couple of screen shots of my favorites, If you haven’t seen the video yet you can watch it or download it from the adidas skateboarding website.  I had a look in the credits and of course the art direction is done by the very talented Matt Irving & Juice Design in San Francisco, who seem to be doing the majority of the adidas skateboarding branding stuff (and doing it quite brilliantly.)

I was sent this video a couple of years back from a night janitor friend who spent most of his shifts lurking youtube or drawing.  I thought it was cool at the time but I never tried to find more videos from the same filmmaker.

I recently did come across an extended version of this video, and I checked out some of the other videos and they’re great.  The filmmaker’s name is David Birdsell and these are his videos. He’s got some beautifully shot and edited films, some cool effects and best of all they’re fun to watch.

I’ve got some very classy friends, I believe at least one of those buns contains a taquito.  On a similar note, I’m working with some of these classy friends on a project that is somewhat related to that picture, which I’m excited for. I’ll post it here when it’s ready.
